The classroom was transformed into a fitness centre with students dressed up in their fitness gear. While each group presented their routine ‘en français’ the rest of the class participated actively in warm-up, cardio and cool-down exercises. It was a real workout in French. Torch Relay
Date: Oct 31, 2009
Entry: On Friday, October 30, the students at Cove Cliff participated in the annual Pumpkin Run, but this year things were a little special. This year we also celebrated the start of Cove Cliff's Olympic Torch Relay. The event was kicked off with an assembly where 3 Grade 7 students, including our own toga attired "greek" torch bearer, explained that Cove Cliff students will be running a scaled down version of the Olympic Torch Relay by recording the accumulated mileage run or walked by the students between now and the opening of the Olympics. Students will run in class or at lunch to add to the school's total. The school's progress will be recorded on a map of Canada showing the route of the Olympic Torch Relay.
Following the presentation the students participated in our annual Pumpkin Run. The students ran or walked with their buddies and returned to the school for a draw of over 80 carved pumpkins. Already Cove Cliff has completed over 300 km towards our Torch Run.
What an exciting way to start our Olympic Torch Run and celebrate Halloween at the same time.

For example, in some English classes, the students made oral arguments to defend their variety of choices for the final torchbearer after reviewing videos of a variety of other torch lightings.
All in all, a pretty exciting day for Seycove's staff and students!
