A heathly lifestyle
Date: Sep 22, 2009
Entry: We are so blessed to live in BC where there is an abundance of clean air, fresh water and an amazing climate to grow a wide variety of healthy foods. We grow fruit and vegetables in the Okanagan valley and sell them direct to consumers. This mean less food miles, fresher produce and a chance to show people how our food is grown. We have the abitlity to connect with thousands of people every year and help create an appreciation for food, farmers and a healthy lifestyle, we count it a priveledge and a blessing. We are a family farm with three generations working together. Along with healthy food we also create healthy fun for families! These pumpkin people displays are one of the things we do to give back to our community. I would like to give special tribute to my Dad who comes in the fall and helps me create these displays and all the smiles that go with them He is an inspiration to me , a healthy fit grandpa who can hike and jog and work and he eats lots of apples!

Sonja Gaudet - Our Wheelchair curling champion!
Date: Sep 22, 2009
Entry: Welcome to the "Unofficial Training Center for Vernon's 2010 Athletes" Take an orchard tour at Davison Orchards and the first display you will come across is Sonja Gaudet. She's beautiful, she's strong, & she's a champion curler!
Sonja's life changed one afternoon in a horse back riding accident, she was paralyzed from the bra-line down. She knew she had a choice to give up or to "focus on her abilties instead of her disabilites." She had two children at the time and she needed to learn to care for them from a wheelchair. She was always active & involved in sports and was determined to continue her active lifesyle through many different adaptive sports, inluding curling.
Soon Sonja was competing and she excelled very quickly. She has won two gold medals for Canada, one in Torino at the 2006 Paralympic Games and the other at the 2009 World Championships. She will do her best to win us another in Vancouver, along with teammates Ian Forrest, Darryl Neighbour and skip Jim Armstrong.
Good Luck Sonja, We are proud fo you!
