Living in Quesnel

Entry: I love this town!!
I recently moved here after an 8 month long decision making process.. I found this community to be very friendly, and active!! I look at a community for these things and more as I have 2 boys who are always driving me to try new things with them :) we love the outdoors and the sports programs offered here are fantastic!! The community events that this community puts together are great family activities!!
The biggest draw for me here is the size of the community and the abundance of activities that are within an hours drive, making stay-cations unforgettable and easily accessible. We hope to be here for a very long time :)

Billy Barker Days

Entry: Every July the whole town looks forward to our annual Billy Barker Days. People of all ages come downtown to enjoy all the fun activities from going to the crash to pass to going down to the fair.

Soccer All Year Round in Quesnel

Entry: Even though it is cold and snowy in Quesnel, and today was -34, you can still enjoy all different kinds of sports in Quesnel. Nothing warms you up like a game of soccer and being able to play indoors at our great facility really helps to keep excited about the game all year round. We have the most amazing facility that the community really rallied behind to support and get it built and it is run by a dedicated group of soccer enthusiasts. Soccer is a year round sport in Quesnel because of the efforts of these volunteers and the support of our great community.

Rodeo Clown Provides Lifetime Experience in Quesnel

Entry: With visitors from Italy this summer we took them to a local highlight - the Quesnel Rodeo. Out of all the great rodeo entertainment, our friend was excited by the clown. When the clown was doing his bit and going through the crowd, we asked him to come over so we could take a picture of him with our friend from italy. It made the trip for our friend and made us proud that we had such great community spirit in our great city of Quesnel.

Local Agriculture is Big in Quesnel

Entry: Quesnel is a big supporter of local agriculture and hosts numerous 4H clubs, a Fur and Feather club, plus other agricultural associations such as a Fall Fair, a meat producers association, a poultry producers association, plus horse drill teams, a pony club and many other equine organizations.
The agriculture community in Quesnel is starting to work together to get the word out that we produce fantastic local food - everything from local meat to vegetables, fruit, honey and everything else you could eat.
This ranch has some baby winter lambs that are getting a little extra attention.

Great Times At Farmers Market

Entry: Not only does Quesnel have the best Farmers Market during the summer but in the winter we also get together for an indoor winter Farmers Market. This winter markets are supported by many of the summer vendors but with exciting additions from the arts and crafts community as well. This makes the winter markets truly an outstanding market with everything available from meat, root vegetables, baked goods, syrup, socks, knitting, clothing, hats, jewelry, furniture, accessories, jams, jellies, board games, purses, local flour plus much, much more. Our market has it all. We support local food and local artisans.

Mandy Doll

Entry: Mandy Doll is one of the very famous museum artifacts in Quesnel, it has been featured in t.v shows, including Oprah. Mandy came to live at the Quensel museum in 1991. Many people that live in Quesnel have a story or two about Mandy, claiming that she is almost like a living doll. Several incidents even happened to my family members as well, claiming that her eyes followed them and they got this creepy feeling around her. This coming from a very much down to earth family. Many come to see her, claimg that they don't believe in her, some even say it to her face. almost all will leave with a very different perception of her. Dont belive me? come down and see for yourself, if you dare.

Entry: So, its been snowing here like crazy lately. I mean its nice and all but the cold that comes with it is deadly. It is already -24 and the windchill makes it feel like -38. I sure hope that the torch runner wears something warm when they come.

Entry: TEAM SPIRIT---Quesnel plans on Painting the Town Red when the torch comes to town. So we are gathering red mitts and selling them in the community. Last night Mayor Mary drove to Prince George after work to get more mittens. Now it is winter in the Cariboo, snow on roads and winter conditions. Now that is TEAM SPIRIT. Way to go Mary.

Four seasons home

Entry: I moved to Quesnel from the big city almost 30 years ago in order to get some acreage and have horses and dogs with room to run. I obtained all of that and a great job too. Now I am retired and enjoying all that Quesnel has to offer - variety of weather, cheap land, lots of volunteer activities, and good local events to attend. I still enjoy going shopping and meeting someone I know every few minutes. Quesnel is a friendly place with good people, although we certainly need a multiplex in order to provide better opportunities for events to come to our town so we don't have to travel for concerts and conferences. I have been a season ticket holder for our local junior hockey team for more than a decade, and the boys who leave home to play for us deserve a nicer facility. We can also use the facility for many other activities barred to us currently.

We are small enough to be able to get to know one another and greet each other on the street. I appreciate this community and am very proud to be a part of it.

Entry: Quesnel is wonderful, so many cool things to do. Always something new. Between all things to do such as shopping, playing in the water park, going swimming, going to the gym, and so much more, you can never hear some one say "I'm Bored, there's nothing to do." And if you do hear some one say that tell them to go swimming or shopping, even play at the water park. Out of all the endless things to do, and new things to discover it's never ending of excitment and discovery.

Entry: Quesnel is a great place to live because there is lots of outdoor activities to do. There are lots of great places to go snowmobiling and quading. If you want to go swimming there are 2 lakes that are close by as well as swimming at cottonwood. In the summer it is nice to go hangout at LeBourdais park. there is a water park here as well as lots of open space to play sports.

Never a dull moment in Quesnel!

Entry: Quesnel is a great place to grow up in, as well as a great place to live for people of any age. There is always something to do no matter what the season is. In the summer, the yearly Billy Barker Days festival with rides, food, concerts and other fun activites for people of all ages. In the winter, snowboarding and skiing at Troll Ski Resort and even snowmobiling in and around the community. In the autumn, quading on the outskirts of the town, and in the spring there are always many exciting community sports to play.

Entry: Before I moved here I lived in chilliwack. Once I came to Quesnel to visit my dad I knew this was the place for me. I have seen so many amazing things like Billy Barker days, my grandma and me just made 156 apple pies to raise money for the church...Quesnel is such an amazing place everyone comes together and they plan some fun things like sometimes on Friday at Labordais park you can sit down with your family and watch a movie on the big screen :) Im so glad I moved here....I have tickets to the mens hockey for the 2010 olympics and I'm so excited to watch it.
