I'm Home...
Date: Jan 5, 2010
Entry: Shortly after we arrived in Princeton 16 years ago, I took a walk downtown to see what I could see. As I was approaching Bridge Street, I saw a man - he was my (then) stereotypical logger type. Big steel-toed boots, plaid logger jacket, baseball type, the whole nine yards. However, my stereotype view was shattered as I drew closer. He had knelt down on the sidewalk and was deep in conversation with a little cocker spaniel that gazed raptly up at the fellow. That just dropped me and that was when I knew I had come home!

Lions Walk for Guide Dogs
Date: Jan 4, 2010
Entry: Princeton Lions Second Annual Walk For Guide Dogs was a huge success.Missy Mouse single-pawed raised $340. When asked how she did it, Ms. Mouse replied "It was like shooting fish in a barrel, I just sat on my table , turned up the cute, and watched the Pledges roll in." By the end of the walk Mouse was a little tired, it wasn't easy keeping up with big brothers, Ben and Taurus. The hot dog sales at the walk generated quite a bit of interest and raised a fair amount for the guide dogs. The walkers lined up in front of Phifer's fountain for a picture before they set off.

Helping hands
Date: Jan 4, 2010
Entry: Tuesday morning the employees at CIBC showed up in their jeans with more than a casual dress day on their minds. With Children’s Hospital as the beneficiary, CIBC has been working hard to raise money. Jeans Day is a national holiday that has brought fundraising for the hospital into the forefront once a year. It is a simple way of making a difference and many businesses take part in the recognized day. For $5.00 workers can pay for the privilege of wearing jeans. All proceeds from the donations go directly to Children’s Hospital.
CIBC does more than just participate in Jeans Day. Employees and customers got together and donated items for a garage sale. Customers and passers-by did their best to support the rummage sale and eagerly paid asking price or more for anything they purchased. Jennica Maxfield, rummage sale overseer for the day, said, “people are really generous. Everybody wants to help out.”
Donation jars have been set up in the bank for approximately a month and Children’s Hospital bears, chocolate bars and pens were on display for purchase throughout April. The bank also held a bake sale to supplement their fundraising efforts. Bank manager, Lynn Holland stated, “the tables were loaded with baked goods in the morning…many customers donated goodies. The employees baked for days and days. There was a lot of stuff there. We planned to hold the bake sale until 3 pm, but the support for the event was phenomenal. At 10:30 we had completely sold out.” The sale raised almost $500.
“The Children’s Hospital and the CIBC Run For the Cure are the two big fundraisers supported by CIBC and everybody really gets into it,” Holland went on. “The employees and customer have been wonderful. One would think they would get sick of continuously donating, but they don’t. People have been wonderful. We always seem to get more than we hope for.”
“$2000 to $2500 seems to be our mark we always come in around by the time the fundraising is over,” said Holland. Over $800 was raised at the rummage sale and the month isn’t over yet. “With so much local support, our CIBC is sure to meet their mark again.”
