my family
Date: Jan 7, 2010
Entry: i love my family and how close princeton has brought us together..princeton keeps my kiddies out of trouble and it also means they have really close friends..everyday after school my youngest boy always bugs me to go play in the park. or go tobaggan down the hills of the dyke that the snow plows make for them. my youngest daughter is 3 and she is quite enjoying the snow hill her olders siblings and her dad and i have made for her. it means she can tobagan and dosnt need to leave my yard.. yay!! in the summer we go down to the river and build wading pools for the kids to swim in. we love princeton and think that it is an amazing town. in the summer i take all my kids young and old(i have 8 by the way) outside and we kick the soccer ball back and forth and play pass with the football. gee we have our own baseball team if u think about it hehe. princeton is a very enjoyable place to live. it is not to big and not to small. and everyone here is kind spirited and enthusiatic. our community thrives on its wonderful volunteer workers. and our amazing sports teams. i could not choose a better community to raise my kids and to live in.

Natures Treasure Box
Date: Jan 7, 2010
Entry: When I moved to Princeton from Vancouver Island via Kamloops 5 years ago, it was for personal and family reasons. I felt that Princeton was centrally enough located that I could continue my recreational activities as a rockhound in the Kamloops area, and my love for natural grandeur on the Coast, without having to drive more than a few hours in either direction. I was so surprised to learn that Princeton is the hub of fantastic rock and fossil hunting for the amateur or serious hobbyist. The first week I lived here I discovered museum quality fossils along the Similkameen River...beautiful agates and zeolite minerals...steps from where I live! Subsequent hikes and forays have taken me to sites where I can find anything from amethyst crystals to common opal to fossilized wood to amber. All of this amateur collecting takes place in the lovliest of surroundings... clear rivers, world class hoodoo formations, forested mountains, eagles and ospreys overhead... deer, marmots, coyotes in abundance. I felt as though I had won natures lottery when fate and circumstance brought me to this community!
I've learned a lot about our local treasures since I moved here, but not everything by far. I've had the very rewarding opportunity of sharing my knowlege with the visitors I've met in my job in the hospitality industry here in Princeton, and have had the joy of watching others discover the unique recreational activities available to them here. I've evolved from a reluctant immigrant to an enthusiastic resident and community booster... a person who doesn't have to use more than a few teaspoonsful of gasoline to enjoy all the outdoor experiences I believed I was distancing myself from by moving here.
Princeton, and the wonderful, committed people who help to create and maintain the wonderful accessiblity to healthy outdoor activities for every group are more than worthy for recognition in a big way!

Win, Lose or Draw
Date: Jan 7, 2010
Entry: My first choice is to say Princeton deserves to win Gold and be called GamesTown 2010. However, I am so impressed with this whole competition. I love reading not only our stories, but other community stories as well. I feel I know them better. I now have an even bigger sense of pride in my Community, Province and Canada. ActNow BC is a huge success and has created a lasting legacy in our community. You have brought us all together through this excercise. Good job and thank you! Win, lose or draw, WE ALL WIN, (but Princeton is still the best).

Swimming
Date: Jan 7, 2010
Entry: I have spent many hours with my children, as well as the children of my friends and their families down at the brown bridge swimming hole. It is a wonderful place to hang out watching the ducks swim by, as well as our local marmot family chattering away on nearby rocks. occasionally you can be visited by the deer looking for a cool refreshing drink. The younger kids will spend hours looking in the small pools for the tiny fish and snakes. If you are lucky enough you may even see one of the local eagles soar overhead, looking for that allusive fish swimming by. Many times while sitting there you will find a group of tubers tubing down the river. (what a lovely way to spend a leisurely afternoon) Princeton is a wonderful place to be able to commune with nature, as we can surely see by the amount of out of town campers we get camping in the local camp grounds. Princeton has so much to offer to locals and visitors alike.

Loving people
Date: Jan 7, 2010
Entry: I am never surprised by the kindness of the people of Princeton to one another. If there is a tragic accident we're all there to help in anyway we can. If elderly people need help someone is always ready to step up to the plate. When families are in diffulties we're there for them. Our Christmas hamper drive for food and toys is the best I've seen.
Strangers travelling, who have had troubles of one kind or another have always recieved a helping hand. From finding a place to keep their animals,to finding a home to take them in during a snow storm when all the motels are full and they have no place to go.
I am proud to live here and call Princeton home.
