Running for Terry
Date: Sep 24, 2009
Entry: Princeton has always participated in the Terry Fox Run. The community is full of avid runners and many feel it is important to get out there and support the annual run. This year the run was on the beautiful Kettle Valley Trail which is part of the Trans Canada Trail. The run went through a tunnel and out along the Similkameen River. It was so enjoyable, we almost hated for it to finish.

Soothed with sound
Date: Sep 22, 2009
Entry: Some people reach a place in their life where they are not as mobile. A care home becomes their new home. While many of these facilities do their best to bring in fresh talent for the residents to watch, sometimes it is a difficult task. The Artsway Foundation is working to change all that. Talented professional musicians have been coming to care homes to entertain those who can't come to them with monies raised by Health Arts Society. Ridgewood Lodge staff welcomed one accomplished musician to their resident care facility and he soothed the souls of all who watched. Music is universal. It heals and it transports. Part of healthy living is a healthy mind and soul.

Cycling the KVR
Date: Sep 21, 2009
Entry: Princeton's old rail line no longer runs trains to Merritt, Penticton or Vancouver anymore, but the old rail bed has become a part of history. The old Kettle Valley rail line is a part of the longest cross-country trail in the world. The Trans Canada Trail runs from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean following the geographical beauty of our country. Princeton's section of the trail has tunnels and gazebos, bridges and streams, ochre bluffs and mountain valleys and so much more to see. It is breathtaking and worth the exercise to pedal, walk, horseback ride or run through any or all of.

The joy of waking up every day and looking out your window to the beautiful mountain views. If you havent visited Princeton yet you should make sure and take a trip one of these days.

Peter Pine
Date: Sep 14, 2009
Entry: Peter Pine was created in 1983 as the mascot for Princeton, BC, Canada. Peter is of mixed heritage as his father is a pine, and his mother is a fir/spruce. He looks like his mother, carries his father’s name, and has many siblings in the forests of the Similkameen Valley. Peter leads an exciting life. In 1989, the Grad class held him hostage until he received his own Grade 12 diploma. This was arranged and he was returned to the town. Once again in the 1990’s he was missing, but was found swimming in the Similkameen River. He was “spruced up”, and is once again representing Princeton in parades and around town at official functions.

Tough bull and tougher bull riders
Date: Sep 14, 2009
Entry: Princeton has a lot of history. It has always been seen as a ranching community and where there is ranching there is rodeoing. Princeton hosted the 2009 B.C. Pro Bull Rider Finals and onlookers were not disappointed by the calibre of these tough athletes. Sometimes the bulls won, but most of these best of the best athletes stayed on their bull for at least two of their four rides.

Hockey school up and running
Date: Sep 11, 2009
Entry: After a late start to the summer hockey camps, Coach "Duner" managed to squeeze in a "last week before school starts" camp. The kids were thrilled to still get a camp even though it was late and a little bit more impromptu than Duner liked. The new power system at the arena should keep the arena moving smoothly now for years to come. The kids will have lots of ice to play on and lots of time to play over the coming months without worrying about down time because of an old power system that was long past its prime.

Date: Sep 3, 2009
Entry: Cattle Ranching has been one of the foundations of Princeton and area since the 1800's. Today cowboy's still ride the open range and mountain grazing lands high above Princeton. It is through their stewardship of the land that these areas have been kept open and home to hundreds of species of birds and animals. These are the people who opened up this country and showed us the way. We owe it to them to hold the land in the same high regard as they did.
