Entry: On June 8, 2009, the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Big Bike made its way to Houston B.C. We had two different teams: the Curvy Girls represented by Curves and the BVCU Choppers represented by the Bulkley Valley Credit Union.

Family Night June

Entry: 102 people came out for Family Night June 2009! We played games, did crafts, and ran races. Many thanks to HLL staff for flipping the burgers, LM for organizing the races and all the wonderful people who participated in another great evening of fun for everyone!

Hiking around Houston

Entry: We have a walking group that walks around town on weekday mornings. Last fall we decided to take a hike to the Palisades after our morning walk. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was fantastic.

'take me home, country roads...'

Entry: After living away from Houston for the last 20 years, I'm glad to be back, 'cuz I've found the place where I belong!! I'd taken up running in the last 8 years and I have totally been amazed at the network of bush trails, park trails and otherwise awesome places to run in Houston. It doesn't matter where you go, there's always a fantastic view, the air is fresh and clean, and the only rush hour you have to worry about is the rush of wings of some group of birds you flush out of the ditch, or the pounding of deer hooves you've spooked from the field (or yard) you've just passed, and the only sirens you hear are the coyotes serenading the rising sun off in the distance!! When I figure out how to run with the Nikon, I'll post some pictures, until then, I'm glad it ain't West Virginia, this mountain momma's happy to be home!

Small town, lots to do!

Entry: "Can we go to the duck pond?" "Can we go to the playground?" " Can we go to the bike park?" These questions are asked after supper almost everyday by our 4 children, and at least 3 or 4 times a week, we go out and do these activities. We leave the van at home, put on our shoes and walk or bike to these different locations in our beautiful town. There is no better way to stay healthy than being active and getting plenty of exercise! And as an added bonus, it relieves stress and strengthens the bond of our family!

Entry: I moved to Houston in March in time to catch the last of the cross-country skiing. The trails were very well maintained even late in the season and the scenery was magnificent.
