Entry: The annual Grad vs Staff hockey game took place juste before Christmas Break. The staff are wearing the yellow jerseys. I think they may have been out numbered!!

Tree of Hope

Entry: The tree of hope is decorated each year by the Houston Cancer Society. Bulbs are sold to race money for cancer research. All the bulbs are sold and it is a beautiful site.

Entry: The first time I went cross country skiing was 10 years ago on Houston's Morice Mountain Cross Country Ski trails ... in the middle of the night. As a new immigrant to Canada, I was game for any new, uniquely Canadian experience. It was so silent...and dark!. I asked my ski companions how I was supposed to see where to go. They said that short of waiting for the moon to pop out from behind a cloud that I should just put my skis in the tracks and "Use the Force". I've had a season's pass each year since then and I love to cross country ski.

Entry: Every year, the Royal Canadian Legion, Pleasant Valley Branch 249, is host to the Remembrance Day celebrations. One of the largest attended functions in town, our community hall is filled to standing room only capacity. A formal ceremony in the community hall is followed by a parade to the cenotaph, the laying of wreaths, and a return parade to the community hall. The rest of the day includes an amazing turkey lunch, for the community, hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary, followed by entertainment 'downstairs' in the Legion.

Entry: After many years of fundraising, Houston's first firetruck has a new home!! In the museum park right along the highway!! Volunteers built the shelter this fall, and just in time too, before the snow flew!!
Doesn't she look stunning in her new location, all shiny and red against the winter wonderland!!
