Tranquil mountain sides lavish in fall colors. Laughing friends enjoying a spring lunch. People inquiring kindly about your day. Tourist looking for things to see and do. the sight, sound, and smwll of the train sometimes going unnoticed. Moving the worldès future in and out of our town. For all these reasons we love Houston. When crisis strikes, there is no better place to be. For our heart is as big as our fly rod. Some of the best fishing for the asking. Right here in our rivers and lakes. Recreation could be our middle name. Hiking, fishing, Camping. Watching a glorious sunset by the campfire. Seeing the Northern lights dance across the horizon where the lake meets the sky. Come winter, a full moon illuminates the snow capped mountains. Snowboarding, skiing, skating. Our faces tiltled upwards, waiting for the sun to shed light on a new day

Entry: My Bulkley Valley
The mountains stand so proud with their white scarfs wrapped so tight
Just waiting for those northern lights to dance within their sight.
The creeks, rivers and lakes are alive with creatures large and small
Giving life and substance to them all.
The valley is teaming with people from all walks of life
Basking in the god times...and enduring the strife.
We are all indivduals......
But know how to help when there are trials
This is truly a giving town
When everything gets turned upside down
Living in the bulkley Valley has been a real blessing for me
What a wonderful place to raise a family
People travelling will always experience our hospitality.

Silent All is right

Our town has a special occasions we celebrate
Canada Day is celebrated for the nation
BC's 150 birthday was so extremely musical
Houston had the 50th birthday with games
We have much fun as a community
Happily welcoming other families
to come and see
the beautifu; park lying
with snow everywhere near
Such sadness to goodbyes.

There are so many things about my home
That I would like to say
Its great, its fun, its beautiful
In each and every way
When the sun is shining
It makes everything glow
And when it is cloudy
It might rain or snow
The winter is a magical time
For so much snowy fun
The summer is not so hot
But you never want it to be done
When you walk by the river
You see it shine bright
Then look at the trees
That makes shades from the light
You see the puff of smoke
From all the mills
When I look up at the starry sky
It gives me the chills
There are so many thinks about Bulkley Valley
That makes you want to roam
But all I have to say is

There's something very, very special
About the town of Houston BC
The warmth and the splendour will awe you
And there's so much in Houston to see!
Steelhead Park is incredibly lovely,
And it isn't at all hard to find
Do take the time to stop here and see,
This park is truly one of a kind.
When you enter the park you'll be greeted
By a torrent of colourful flowers.
The beauty is sure to delight you,
You can sit and enjoy it for hours.
In the midst of it all there's a fountain,
With sculpted steelhead leaping high.
They look so real you almost think
Any moment they're going to fly.
There's another treat waiting to please you
If you lift your gaze a bit higher:
A large and magnificent fly-rod
Standing proudly for all to admire.

Entry: The First Snow on Hungry Hill
I was sitting waiting for the snow
Then it came, white and soft.
Frozen and gently falling.
I get ready to play. Coat, snowpants, boot, hat, mitts.
Out I go, zip up my coat.
Making snowforts, snowballs, snowangels.
With my creativity rising. I get dad to help me make....
a snow dragon!
I ride my dragon, sliding again and again.
Building, shaping, carving!
Now late, still snowing, I come in to
Hot Chocolate and cookies with mom and think
"This was a perfect day in Houston"

We celebrate the Canada Day Parade
Everyone wears hats for shade
Crowds stay all year around
In the winter there's snow all over the ground
The pool is where you go when it's hot
When you see a fly you SWAT!
If you want to skate you go to the rink
The library is where you go if you need to think
The Fishing Fly Rod is really cool
Go to Seven Eleven if you need car fuel

I am so happy I live here.
I have a lot of great friends that I love to play with too.
I go to an awesome school, it is called Silverthorne School.
I have a great teacher too.
I have lived in this town for 8 and a half years.
I like the mall and the stores too.
My favorite part of Houston is how geart it is, because I feel safe in this town.
All of the people are so nice to me and kind.

living in Houston,
home of the Luckies, who, no doubt,
play hockey to
contribute something of a brave
or pluncky nature
to their community which flavors
gladiators who
are also upstanding members
of a productive
crew that hauks in the tall timbers
of pine, fir or spruce
while thanking God of His blessings
