Young People in Chase making a difference

Entry: We have so many young people in Chase who are making a difference in their community and beyond. The Green Team at Haldane and Chase Secondary are workin hard to look after our environment with fundraising and eco conscious activities. Others are raising funds for Children's Hospital in memory of one of our young citizens who lost his life to cancer and supporting Children's hospital was his passion. Young people from Chase Secondary put on a Hallowwe'en party each year for the youngsters in the community. Still others collect food and clothes for ones in need. We are so lucky to have such wonderful young people in our community! There are so many opportunities for our young people to take part in theatre, dance, skating, skiing, curling, hockey because of the efforts of our wonderful volunteers. Thanks everyone for making Chase such a great place to live, work and play!

Our Arena.

Entry: Because I've skated all my life, I love the fact that we can skate here in our Arena and watch our hockey team perform.
What we do need is new machinery for our rink and the prize money would be well spent here in our lovely community.

Great community

Entry: We have lived in Chase now for 8 years, and we love it here. The community is growing but still has a small town spirit. We also have great schools and I am very proud to say that Chase Haldane Elementary has become Canada's #1 green school. In Chase we are always promoting a healthy life style, whether it be summer sports, winter sports, childrens activities, senior activities and community activities. We are always on the go!

Best little town in BC

Entry: I grew up in Chase, and was fortunate enough to have raised both my children there until they were 10 & 12. We all still call it "home" when we go there to visit my parents. Curling and hockey are HUGE up there in the winter months, as is golf & boating in the summer. We all hope to eventually end up back there as each of us retires.

Coming Home

Entry: After 20 years of living away I came home to Chase to raise my family. It's that kind of place. The kind of place you always call Home no matter where you live. The weather is wonderful and there are things to do all year round but the best thing about Chase are the people. They are kind, helpful, friendly and fun.

Entry: I have lived in the Chase area for 40 years. Chase is a small town. They are there to help any one who needs help. They have musics Festival, Art walk, and many other events. It is situated by the small Shuswap Lake. Around Chase the scenery is just beautifull .

Each year the Chase & District Chamber of Commerce receives nominations from the community for the Citizen of the Year Award
This year's winner is Sheryl Penttila.
Sheryl is involved in numerous clubs, groups, organizaiton and events.

Amazing Spirit in our Community!

Entry: During December and really all year long the citizens of Chase and area display an amazing spirit of giving and helping others who are in need or just because they want to give back to their community. The local hamper committee had many dollars and much needed food donated so they could give Christmas hampers to everyone who applied. As well, students at Chase Secondary did a "coat drive" to collect coats to be donated to people in need and they collected 10 shopping carts full, thanks to the generosity of citizens of Chase and area. Throughout the year there are fundraising activities for such things as Breast Cancer Research, Gratitude Month to raise funds for Children's Hospital and if there is a need in our community the true spirit of giving shines through. Although we are a small community (2500) we have big hearts!
