Olympic Activities update
Date: Dec 13, 2009
Entry: Students are well on their way to learning about the olympics. We have already had many opoprtunities to share with students about the olympics. In a special assembly, students were introduced to the olympic values. As well, we had an olympic torch bearer, uncle to one of the students, come to share with us his experiences running the torch relay. Along with this presentation, a father of one of the students came to discuss and show pictures of how the olympic medals are being made. We have an olympic bulletin board up in our foyer where students in grade 3/4 took on a participating country by researching some facts so other students in the school can get to know a bit about the olympic countries.

Olympic Spirit at Inman
Date: Oct 6, 2009
Entry: Our opening week in September focused on the Winter Olympics. We had an assembly each morning to begin our Olympic journey. We watched a podcast of the celebration at BC Place when Vancouver won the bid and played a trivia game with Olympic questions.
Classes worked with younger and older buddies and we created Olympic Rings for our gym that are covered with individual self portraits of all the students in our school. We also made paper quilts illustrating the Olympic values of Respect, Caring, Creativity, and Peace. These are all hanging in our hallways to help us to keep our Olympic focus.
Each of our monthly assemblies will focus on learning about one of the Winter sports. At the end of September we saw a podcast about the skeleton and some of our intermediate students demonstrated their 'skeleton' skills on the scooters in our gym.

We are proud of the fact that we are a family oriented club with a strong connection to the communities of Coquitlam, Port Moody, and Burnaby because of our location across from Lougheed Town Centre and on the border of all three municipalities.
We offer boys and girls, ages 4-16, the opportunity to enjoy gymnastics in a safe and supportive environment no matter what their skill level. The family fee for the Society membership is $25 per season.
Wings owns a full complement of apparatus, and our coaches are fully certified through the National Coaching Certification Program and registered with Gymnastics BC. Wings operates its programs out of the Cameron Recreation Complex in Burnaby and at Omega Gymnastics in Coquitlam. With our emphasis on "Gymnastics for Fun and Fitness", holiday events and special displays involving all Wings gymnasts are also an essential and exciting part of our season.
