The Sport tagger is back!
Date: Dec 22, 2009
Entry: Our 'sports tagger' seems to be back in business! The pedestrian crossing sign located between Askews' Foods and the Pharmacy & Wellness Centre was 'tagged' and turned into a 'skater crossing'. As with previous 'taggings' the black electrical tape is removable. We still have not been able to identify the mystery 'sports tagger' and thank him/her for their artistic contribution to the community!

Entry: Thanks for sending Stanley. Cheese Day was great. Stanley really likes grilled cheese sandwiches. We also had vegies and dip. We sang songs about cheese. We took some pictures with Stanley. We sampled some cheese Mrs. Seko brought. We tried Provolone, Swiss and Blue Cheese. I liked them all. We did the hokey-pokey except it was the cheesy-weezie. My cheese name was Fancy Flower Marie. It's cool that in Armstrong they make a salmon cheese. From Sophia

How to play Dreidel
Date: Dec 21, 2009
Entry: Dreidel is a favorite game of Jewish children, especially during Hannukah. Children sit in a circle on the floor with an equal number of nuts, raisins, pennies or chocolate gelt (candy coins wrapped in gold foil) in front of them. Each player places one item from their pile into the centrer 'pot'. Then they take turns spinning the dreidel. If the dreidel lands on Nun, you get nothing; if it lands on Gimmel, you get everything in the pot. If the dreidel stops on Hey, you get half the pot, but if it stops on Shin, you have to pit another item into the center. Whenever the pot becomes empty, everyone has to put one object in before the next spin. The game is over when one of the players has all the prizes. Then you start over! A demonstration of the game was shown at 'A Night in Bethlehem' including a demonstration on how dreidels are hand-carved and painted.

A Little Bit of Heaven
Date: Dec 21, 2009
Entry: Armstrong is a wonderful place to live. I have driven all the way to Newfoundland and would not want to move. We have everything we need to have a happy productive life. I can go to Curves 3 times a week for work-outs. The other 4 days I do the WII Fit at home and walk around town (a 2 mile circuit) with my friend. Every Thursday I spend the afternoon playing Foot Canasta with a group of friends. There are great service clubs that you can join and help others in our community. So you see there is all that I need-- a way to stay physically healthy, socially active, mentally active, and feed the soul. Not only that, but it is a friendly community that welcomes and accepts all new comers. Come on over and visit us. You may not want to ever leave.
